The Common Raven is one of the most common birds seen when driving through Kootenay National Park.

Highways are heavily used by ravens as they patrol the roads looking for road-kills. In winter ravens are often observed feeding on road-killed Pine Siskins and crossbills that are attracted to the highway salt. Ungulates killed on the roadways are another important winter food source for ravens.
